It’s official, I have a blog and I know how to use it.

Taking photos of family is a very pleasant experience...sometimes..:).
We want to give you some tips while taking those photos and post producing them after the fact so that you can create, record and store better quality images so your memories will be captured more professionally.

Rules to Keep in Mind
Composition:Rule Of Thirds
We frame up our shot using the camera's inbuilt grid so at to line up the image along the 4 points of intersections of the grid lines or along the lines itself, depending on the composition.
Here we used the 2 horizontal grid lines to line up on the father's elbows and the daughter's shoulders.

Exposure:
Not using a flash we decided to expose for the background with the intent to overexpose the subjects in post production.Using an f2 prime lens we were able to capture a lot of that ambient light by bringing the camera aperture all the way down to f2.
Camera position:
Having a fixed focal length when using a prime lensgives you a great image. However, you are forced to move the camera position around to get a clear crisp image. In this case the camera was about 15’ inside the house.
Subject’s detailing:
We used a simple technique of de-saturation and curves to brighten up the father’s teeth and eyes. It is a small detail but it really does make a difference.
Candid Feel:
The entire idea of the shot if to capture the mood and feel of that moment in time we are immortalizing.
Here we told the father and daughter to play around and we started clicking. We got about 10 good shots and everyone had such a good time and we didn’t have to worry too much about have both subjects to hold a pose.
